Driving Under the Influence (DUI)

Lawyer in State College, Pennsylvania  Drunk driving

Experienced DUI Defense Attorney

Have you been arrested or charged with drunk driving? Are you facing the loss of your driving privileges, higher insurance premiums, substantial fines or even jail time? Everybody makes mistakes. You want an experienced and skillful lawyer to protect your rights, one who has successfully helped others facing DUI or DWI charges. Contact the office of Pennsylvania DUI defense attorney Scott N. Pletcher.

I have a comprehensive understanding of the law and procedure governing driving under the influence, driving while intoxicated or, as it is now known, driving after imbibing (DAI). I also represent people charged with driving under the influence of drugs. I will work closely with you throughout the process, making certain you are fully informed of your options, so that you can make the right decisions.

Pennsylvania Drunk Driving Defense Attorney

The state of Pennsylvania takes a serious approach to drinking and driving. The consequences of conviction for DUI, DWI or DAI can be devastating, and may include:

  • The loss or suspension of your driving privileges
  • Mandatory rehab or substance abuse counseling or treatment
  • Substantial fines
  • Incarceration
  • Increases to auto insurance premiums
  • Community service or restitution

When you hire me to handle your DUI charge, I will conduct a thorough examination of the facts, circumstances and evidence to determine whether your constitutional rights were protected, as well as the strength of the prosecutor's case. I will review the police report and other information to establish whether the arresting officer had probable cause to make the traffic stop. I will verify that you were properly advised of your constitutional rights before you made statements to the police. I will also look at field sobriety and blood alcohol tests to confirm that they were correctly administered. If there are any irregularities, I will seek the exclusion of evidence and/or the dismissal of charges, if appropriate.

Though my primary objective will always be the dismissal of charges against you, in situations where that is not likely or possible, I will seek to minimize the consequences, working with prosecutors to reduce sentencing through voluntary participation in diversionary programs or counseling. I will also work to help you get a restricted driver's license while your case is pending, so that you can still drive to work or school.

In addition to defending you in the criminal proceeding, I will represent you in the administrative hearing on the suspension or revocation of your driver's license.

To schedule an appointment for a free initial consultation, contact me by e-mail or call toll-free at 1-866-606-1905. My office is open Monday through Friday, from 8 am until 5 pm, and evenings and weekends by appointment. I am located at the corner of South Burrowes Street and Calder Way.
